No changes to the Pender Village Shopping Center that is currently under construction are proposed. The applications are identified as PCA 83-C-021 and RZ/FDP 2009-SU-020. A November 19, 2009 Planning Commission public hearing and a December 7, 2009 Board of Supervisors public hearing are scheduled. On July 13, 2009, the Board of Supervisors approved the associated APR Nomination to permit this conversion of use within the Comprehensive Plan.

• Information About Proposed Changes to Toll Rates in the Dulles Corridor
  • The Dulles Corridor is a vital transportation link in the National Capital Region. It has long been the plan to develop this Corridor to include Metrorail. In fact, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority has reserved the median of the Dulles Airport Access Highway for the construction of rail through this Corridor to provide transit access between Washington Dulles International Airport and the region.
  • The Airports Authority will hold public hearings in an open house format to inform, and solicit comments from the community about proposed toll rate increases to support the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project and Dulles Toll Road improvements.   • Three public hearings will be held in the Dulles Corridor. These hearings will take place on the following dates at these locations:
    • Wednesday, September 9 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., South Lakes High School, 11400 South Lakes Drive, Reston, VA 20191
  • At the sessions, there will be informational exhibits about the Metrorail Project; the cost and financing of the Metrorail Project; the Dulles Toll Road and potential improvements that may be made to the Toll Road in the future; the revenue anticipated to be raised as a result of the proposed toll increases; and how this additional revenue will be spent.
  • Airports Authority Representatives will be available at the hearings to discuss the exhibits.

  • A new opportunity for Fairfax County residents to share their comments, concerns and ideas regarding the Park Authority launched in March 09: Listening Forums
  • It's a new twist on an old concept: go to where the people are and reach out! Citizens can choose from nine locations around the county at which to discuss topics of their choice.
  • The nine forums are scheduled on Thursday nights at 7 p.m. Input on how the Park Authority can best meet the community's needs is invited. Staff will use the gathered information to guide decisions regarding the organization and the agency's service delivery.

• I-66 Transit/Transportation Demand Management Study
  • DRPT, in coordination with local jurisdictions and partnering agencies, is conducting a transit/transportation demand management (TDM) study for the I-66 Corridor from Washington, D.C., to Haymarket, Virginia.
  • The study includes a review of potential short- and medium-term transit and TDM improvements for the I-66 Corridor that will increase mobility along the corridor. Potential improvements could include new bus services such as Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) and new commuter choices such as carpooling, vanpooling and park and ride lots.
  • DRPT is managing the study in coordination with a Technical Advisory Committee comprised of local, state, regional and federal/jurisdictional/agency staff.
  • A second set of public information meetings have been scheduled for September 2009 to provide a time for the public to review and comment on the study findings before study recommendations are developed. Each meeting will include an open house and an informational presentation followed by an opportunity for questions and answers. Dates and locations are below. • FY 2011 Budget Community Dialogues
  • THE CHALLENGE - Fairfax County is projecting a significant budget deficit for FY 2011 (beginning July 1, 2010). We are in the midst of a multi-year, cyclical downturn requiring that county decision-makers continue to make expenditure and revenue adjustments. Our ongoing challenge is to develop a budget with an appropriate level of services that are both sustainable and acceptable to the community.
  • THE RESPONSE - Fairfax County Government and Fairfax County Public Schools invite you to register and attend one of 12 Community Dialogues being held this Fall to share your feedback on the impacts of recent budget reductions as well as seeking for solutions to close the FY 2011 budget gap. • Sully APR Task Force
  • The task force will reconvene for a final time Tuesday, November 10th at 7 PM in the James McDonnell room of the Sully District Government Center.
    Three Area Plan Review (APR) nominations were deferred pending review of the 527 transportation study. Those nominations were for the

    The 527 plans have been submitted and the County's Department of Transportation expects to have preliminary comments back from VDOT in late October.
