  • For more information on Cool Neighborhoods The Sierra Club of Fairfax and Fairfax County Government are sponsoring the cool countries program. The purpose is to reduce carbon emissions by two percent every year in Fairfax County. Part of the Cool Neighborhoods program is encouraging and educating residents on carbon reductions and cost-savings programs in their homes. The government is not providing tax credits to homeowners at this time.

    • Location: In Springfield District at Chantilly and Centreville High Schools
      Springfield District Planning Commissioner Murphy asked that Ed Donohue coordinate with Sully. Ed is going to send the application materials to Supervisor Frey's office. The Centreville HS application has a PC hearing date of 6/25, the Chantilly application is not yet scheduled.

      Cricket Communication and Verizon Wireless are building telecommunication poles at Chantilly and Centreville High Schools. A balloon test for the community will be on June 13 at Centreville HS. Furthermore, a public hearing will be on June 25. Both high schools will get revenue from the companies to support school programs. The council had no objections to the proposal.

    • Location: 13224 Franklin Farm, Oak Hill
      Cricket Communication is collaborating on a telecommunication pole tree at 13224 Franklin Farm Road, Oak Hill. The property requires a small size increase of the property and the company is requesting a temporary permit because of needs. Heavy tree cover is at the site to reduce observation from the neighborhoods. Because the property is private-owned, the HOA will not receive any revenue from the companies. The Board of Supervisors date is June 30. The council had no objections to the proposal.
