        This PA concerns an approx. 5 acre site located at the intersection of Lee Road and Chantilly Crossing Lane (Tax Map Parcel 34-3 ((13)) 3) in the Sully Supervisor District. The subject parcel is currently planned for hotel and private recreation uses. According to the Comprehensive Plan, retail uses are not planned for this site; however a furniture store use is allowed under certain conditions. The proposed plan amendment will consider allowing alternative retail uses on the site. Both the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors hearings have been scheduled, with the PC hearing set for February 12th and the BOS hearing for March 24th. I would like to attend your January 28th meeting to very briefly discuss this Plan amendment and gather your feedback on this matter. 7. Old Business
   • Last November, Supervisor Frey, accompanied by four other Sully Representatives, attended an event in Chantilly, France, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the start of WWI and the observance of Armistice Day. Details of the visit can be found at the Chantilly to Chantilly page.

8. New Business
   • The Fairfax County League of Woman Voters has been contacted and has agreed to co-sponsor our two fall candidates nights - in September our sixth bi-annual legislative candidates night and in October our second quad-annual Sully and County candidates night. The September meeting will be moved to Monday night to avoid a conflict with Yom Kippur.

   • Lewis Grimm reports on a new Report Card for Virginia's Infrastructure Released at the Virginia Capitol:
     • Virginia's civil engineers gathered on Tuesday to release the 2015 Report Card for Virginia's Infrastructure at the Virginia Capitol as well as host a legislative training and a reception for legislators.
     • At the media event and reception, Report Card Chair Don Rissmeyer, P.E., presented the new Virginia grades, resulting in a G.P.A. of C-, along with Virginia Section President Christina Ammens, P.E.. Chairman Thomas D. Rust, P.E., M.ASCE, of the House Transportation Committee, as well as Delegates Bloxom, Simon, Ingram, Bulova, Lopez, Murphy, DeSteph, Filler-Corn, Carr and Marshall were in attendance along with ASCE members from across the state. The Report Card earned a variety of media mentions, but most notably the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Charlottesville Newsplex, Roanake Times, and WTOP-DC.

   • Fairfax Federation Seeks Nominations for Fairfax County 2014 Citizen of the Year
     • The Fairfax County Federation of Citizens Associations is soliciting nominations for its 2014 Fairfax County Citizen of the Year. Each year, a selection committee of county-wide organizations meets to review nominations for the Federation's "Citizen of the Year" and merit awards. The winners are honored at our annual banquet, planned for 19 April 2015
     • Both the Citizen of the Year Award and the Citation of Merit recognize and honor those citizens whose voluntary contributions of time and talent resulted in major accomplishments that have enhanced the quality of life for citizens of Fairfax County.
     • Eligibility:
       • Nominees must be current residents of Fairfax County.
       • Elected officials and full-time county or commonwealth employees are ineligible for consideration if their contributions are related to their full-time positions.
       • The Citizen of the Year is recognized for voluntary acts that are not related to employment.
     • Criteria:
       • Contributions and accomplishments must have countywide rather than local significance.
       • The nominee's achievements can be either:
         • General, such as multi-year community service with one or more organizations or activities with cumulative impact over the years of current importance or with positive implications for the future, or
         • Specific, including intense efforts as the major promoter of a single program or project completed in a finite period of time.
     • Persons whose contributions of time and talent resulted in major accomplishments that have enhanced the quality of life for citizens of Fairfax County, who do not meet the published eligibility standards for the Citizen of the Year consideration, may still be honored by the Federation. Please submit information about these nominees on the nomination form, indicating that this is an alternative nomination.
     • Nominations will be accepted until 31 January 2015. The nomination form is available online from the Federation's website, http://www.fairfaxfederation.org.
     • The Federation, established in 1940, is the countywide voice for homeowner, civic, and community associations.     • I-66 Corridor Improvements Public Information Meetings

    • Fairfax Connector Seeks Public Input on Proposed Changes to Routes in Reston, Herndon and Tysons
      Fairfax Connector is proposing changes to Reston Internal Bus System (RIBS) service, routes 928 and 937 in Herndon, and Tysons circulator and Express Lanes routes in response to changing travel patterns and ridership since the start of Silver Line Metrorail service. The proposed changes, to take place in Spring 2015, aim to improve on-time performance, enhance connectivity, and provide more direct service for the majority of passengers.
      Highlights of the proposed changes include:
      • Schedule adjustments to RIBS 1 and RIBS 3 service to improve on-time performance;
      • Route and schedule adjustments to RIBS 2, RIBS 4, RIBS 5, and routes 928 and 937 to provide new and more direct connections in Herndon and Reston;
      • Route and schedule adjustments to Tysons Circulator routes 422, 423, and 424 to provide more direct connections and bi-directional service to the majority of passengers connecting with the Silver Line Metrorail; and
      • Combining routes 493 and 494, with service proposed to operate between Lorton, Saratoga, Springfield, and Tysons via the 95 and 495 Express Lanes.
