Watershed Management by Joseph Sanchirico, Ecologist II, Stormwater Planning Division, Watershed Planning & Assessment Branch, Department of Public Works & Environmental Services
Joe is the project manager for the Sugarland Run/Horsepen Creek Watershed Plan. His presentation covered a brief overview of their progress to date, lessons learned from the first round and the next steps in the process. He also provided some insight on how to read the plans that pertain to our district.
In Fairfax County there are 30 watersheds formed into 13 planning groups. Currently half the plans for the watershed planning groups have been adopted. The county aims to have all plans adopted by February 2011.
After first round of watershed plan development improvements to the planning process were adopted. The plans are now more user friendly, all are in the same format.

Proponent: Lori Greenlief , of McGuire Woods as agent for Lylab Holdings LLC
Action: Infill Development RZ/FDP cases
Location: Rockland Village (Chantilly Crossing Apartments)
These are small residential infill rezonings to PDH-8 on holdout parcels in what used to be Rockland Village [most of which is now the Chantilly Crossing Apartments] off Walney Rd near Rt 50. When the apartments were built they did not get full consolidation, but the design anticipated the holdout parcels might come in at some point.
Rockland village two of three remaining infill lots redeveloping at 8 DUA similar to redevelopment done in 2000, same design and construction mirroring adjoining lots: Single-family detached units, 4 per parcel. Late April hearing date
Any thought to turn a parcel into park? - Existing park adjoins one of the parcels.
Why last out lot not included – had discussed but no agreement as to price (owner has significant price demands).
No objection at this time pending staff report
